Happenings
Winchester is home to the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival. This will be the 98th annual festival. More than 250,000 people will attend the 6 days of events. This year “the Bloom” will be held April 24th – May3rd, 2026.The festival has been attended by many celebrities in the past including: Lucille Ball, Adam West, Martha Stewart, and Dan Aykroyd just to name a few. The 6 days of the festival have many events and entertainment to keep everyone busy. A Fireman’s parade (featuring over 170 firetruck and squad units). The Grand Feature parade (includes floats, bands, special units, and official cars). The parade usually lasts about 3 hours. “Weekend in the park” held at Jim Barnett Park features over 250 craft and food vendors as well as live music. June 6th – The Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardeners Association will again host Garden Fest featuring an extensive plant sale, gardening demonstrations and talks, vendors, and children’s activities. Admission and parking for the festival are free and tours of Belle Grove’s Manor House will be conducted at a reduced admission fee. More details to come!

John has been growing orchids as a hobby for many years. He is the former President of the Lord Fairfax Orchid Society in Winchester and has won several awards for his orchids at the National Capitol Orchid Society show and sale at the National Arboretum in Washington, D.C., held annually on Columbus Day weekend.
