Thus, the flower became associated with rebirth.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Biblical Reference to Lilies<\/h3>\n<p>We also have an excerpt from the Bible that says, \u201cConsider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.\u201d This is how lilies became part of our current Easter traditions. Here&#8217;s how to care for them.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">How to Care For Easter Lilies<\/h3>\n<p>An Easter lily is a bulb and, what&#8217;s more, it is winter hardy here in zone 7. Wait until it has finished blooming, then plant it outside. While it is inside, care for it by placing it in a bright spot, but no direct sun between 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM. If the pot is wrapped in foil, either remove it or poke holes in the bottom so it can drain well. Water when the top of the soil is dry 1\/3 to 1\/2 the way down, but never let it go bone dry.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Planting Easter Lilies After They Bloom<\/h3>\n<p>When it finishes blooming, cut back the old flower stalk. Plant your lily outside around the end of April in a spot with dappled sun. Get a bulb fertilizer (like Espoma&#8217;s Bulb-tone) and feed according to the label directions.
