SO, WHAT DOES THE FARMER’S ALMANAC PREDICT FOR US THIS FALL AND WINTER?
This blog on the Farmer’s Almanac is more entertaining than factual. Did you know that the Old Farmer’s Almanac was established in 1792? The Almanac makes its weather predictions by comparing solar patterns and historical weather conditions with current solar activity. It will use three scientific disciplines: solar science, climatology, and meteorology.
Fall in Virginia will arrive with the autumnal equinox at 2:19 p.m. on Monday, September 22nd. In Virginia, the 2025 publication is saying temperatures will be above normal. Precipitation will be below normal. I hope the almanac is wrong. As for winter, temperatures will be above normal. Precipitation will be near to below normal. I hope the almanac is correct in predicting our winter this year.
According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, it was very accurate in predicting our weather last fall and winter. The overall accuracy rate in predicting temperatures and precipitation was 83.3%
Here is the prediction for September: The average temperature will be 70.5 degrees. Precipitation for the month will be 3 inches of rainfall (1 inch below average). September 1st – 13th will have isolated t-storms, warm. September 14th – 16th will be sunny and hot. September 17th -27th will have scattered showers, cool, then warm. September 28th – 30th will be sunny and cooler. The Old Farmer’s Almanac prediction of weather for September is not bad (if it is accurate), especially since September is the start of the FALL IS FOR PLANTING season.
The Almanac predicts that our first frost will be Friday, October 31st. I hope this is accurate.
